Edie Nightcrawler:

Pleasure Stragedies

PLEASURE STRATEGIES is a workshop for performers of all levels hoping to bridge the gap between concepts and physicality. Using costumes, props, music  and surroundings to enliven our presence, we will experiment with exercises meant to encourage personal style instead of a generic starting point. What is your special sauce? How can you surprise yourself and still reveal what matters about you?

**students should bring any costumes or props they are interested in experimenting with -- including weird but appealing items from the back of your closet. We will also have some on hand to explore.

Who is Edie Nightcrawler?

Edie Nightcrawler’s solo numbers are glamorous but lean towards weird.  A choreographer by trade, she enjoys creating a theatrical spectacle that is body-centric, surprising, and generally sprinkled with stupid humor.  Edie has performed extensively around New York city including The Slipper Room, The Box, Coney Island, and innumerable Burlesque venues and gay bars. Edie was an original cast member of Absinthe Las Vegas; a back up dancer for Sasha Velour, and a Succubus for Comedy Central.

When not rehearsing solos in her kitchen, Edie has created choreography for fashion shows, high school musicals, recording artists, BHOF winners and more. With a background in contemporary dance, Edie enjoys sharing dance-based joys with many different types of students and contexts. She is a regular instructor at The New York School of Burlesque  and Impulstanz Festival in Vienna.
